Mercedes Benz SL550 Brake Pads
Symptoms of Faulty Mercedes Benz Sl550 Brake Pads
Do you feel a different response from the brake pedal of your Mercedes Benz SI550 each time you step on it? If yes, then that problem might be caused by malfunctioning brake pads. Aside from that, there are also other signs that you should look out for to determine if your brake pads are already wearing down and needs to be replaced. Here's a list of those common symptoms:
Screeching noise when you step on the brakes
When there's a screeching noise every time you apply the brakes, then it could be caused by the brake pads that are already thinning. The noise is produced by the friction between the rotor and the metal portion of the brake pads. You can also check if the brake pads' you bought have a wear indicator. It can help you determine if the brake pads already needs to be replaced.
If you already notice that the vehicle is still moving even after you have stepped on the brakes, then it can be another sign of a brake pad that's wearing down. However, you should check the condition of the brake pads first because there might be an object that's blocking the pads from rubbing with the brake rotors. The foreign object can damage the rotor and cause uneven wear to the brake pads, so you have to consider replacing them or getting them fixed through a machine.
A brake pedal that's too low
If you still have to step on the brake pedal down just to stop, then it can be a cause of the brake pads that are too thin. This is because the brake pads aren't able to reach the rotors efficiently that's why you have to put more pressure on the pedal.
Other troubleshooting tips
Aside from checking the brake pads of your vehicle, you should also check the brake lines and the brake fluid of your car. The brakes lines may also cause the other parts of the brake system including the brake pads. You should also check the brake fluid level frequently. If the fluid level on the master cylinder is decreasing than usual, then you should check the brake lines immediately.
