It’s been a while since General Motors announced that it will revive the Hummer<\/a> nameplate as an electric vehicle under the GMC lineup. But while the model is one of the most highly-anticipated releases in the industry, not much is known about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is set to change as the automaker recently confirmed it will be offering removable roof panels for the Hummer EV for the 2022 model year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The removable roof panels are a standard feature for the Hummer SUT, but GM declined to comment if it will also be available for the SUV variant. It also remains to be seen whether the company will offer the EV’s roof in both the hard- and soft-top versions similar to the Jeep Wrangler, which also launched removable roof panels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s sure so far is that there will be a total of four roof panels and a front T-bar that can all be manually removed by one person, GM spokesperson Tara Kuhnen told Car and Driver. There also won’t be a connector for the front and rear windows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aside from the removable roof panels, the Hummer EV is expected to deliver 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. It can also reportedly go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.0 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The upcoming Hummer EV will be available with one, two, or three electric motors. The version with one motor will be a rear-drive model, while the two other variants will be for the all-wheel-drive layout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new GMC<\/a> Hummer will be offered with multiple trim levels and configurations, including a work-truck variant as well as an off-road trim. Pricing for the model has not been released, but it is expected to be around $70,000.
