The upcoming hybrid version of the 2020 Hyundai Sonata<\/a> is getting a price bump, as confirmed by the automaker in its recent announcement, which stated the gas-electric model of the well-loved model will pick up a price premium of $2,200 to $4,200 compared to its nonhybrid counterparts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The price adjustment puts the starting price of the Sonata Hybrid at $28,725 for the entry-level Blue trim, making it about $4,150 more expensive than the nonhybrid Sonata SE. The Blue trim is the most fuel-efficient in the lineup with 52 mpg combined. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next to the Blue trim is the SEL variant, which retails for $30,875 and includes additional features such as power front seats and a premium audio system. It delivers a combined rating of 47 mpg based on EPA estimates. Compared to its nonhybrid counterpart, the gas-electric SEL will now be $4,100 more expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The range-topping Limited trim, meanwhile, will cost $36,675, making it $2,200 costlier than the nonhybrid. It delivers the same 47 mpg combined rating as the SEL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All three versions of the Sonata hybrid are equipped with a 2.0-liter inline-four gas engine and an electric motor that makes 51 horsepower. When combined, this reaches up to 192 horsepower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The model comes with a 10.3-inch infotainment display and premium leather seats. Customers who are getting the Limited trim are also treated to solar roof panels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2020 Hyundai Sonata hybrid is expected to go on sale in the U.S. next month.
