Toyota<\/a> just announced the pricing scheme for the 2021 RAV4 Prime that’s due to join the automaker’s lineup soon. The plug-in hybrid SUV, which is packed with new features and technology, sits under $40,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Advertised as the most efficient and highest-performing RAV4 to date, the upcoming model is also among the most affordable so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Toyota’s latest announcement, the 2021 RAV4 Prime will be available in two trims: the entry-level SE trim and the range-topping XSE trim. The SE trim fetches a starting price of $39,220, inclusive of the $1,120 destination charge, while the XSE variant is a little higher at $42, 545.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both the SE and XSE are powered by a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle I4 gas engine with two electric motors that deliver a combined 302 horsepower. One of the two electric motors powers the rear axle, allowing an all-wheel-drive setup for the RAV4 Prime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two models are also equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, which includes a variety of tech features such as automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In terms of individual features, the Prime SE comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, black exterior accents, and a special grille as part of its standard kit. It’s also fitted with heated front seats, a power driver’s seat, a power liftgate, as well as a 3-kilowatt onboard charger. It has an 8-inch infotainment screen and has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the addition of a sole options package, interested buyers will have to shell out an extra $1,665 for a moonroof, heated steering wheel, heated outboard seats, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The XSE, meanwhile, comes with a two-tone paint job, 19-inch wheels, moonroof, synthetic leather for the seats, wireless device charger, ambient lighting, and a 9-inch screen as standard equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For an additional $815, customers can get a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and rain-sensing wipers. But for those who can afford an additional $2,435, the RAV4 Prime gets upgraded with a JBL sound system, and an embedded, connected navigation. Forking out an extra $5,760 on top of the standard price, however, gets the buyer all add-on features, plus a panoramic sunroof, a digital rearview mirror, surround-view cameras, a 6.6-kilowatt charger, four-door keyless entry, a head-up display, ventilated front seats, and parking sensors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
