Hyundai<\/a> is temporarily halting production of the Palisade SUV in its home facility in South Korea following reports of a parts shortage. Similarly, the Genesis GV80 assembly is also put on hold while the company irons out issues in the supply chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a report published by Just Auto, production of the three-row SUV stopped on June 15 due to an issue with the supply chain. The problem was reportedly caused by the recent passing of one of the employees of the supplier due to COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The production had to be paused for both the Hyundai Palisade and the Genesis GV80, spelling problems for dealers in the United States where the GV80 is supposed to debut this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A representative for Hyundai confirmed the halt in production and clarified it will not affect the Palisade models bound for the U.S. However, the company refused to provide a comment on how this will affect the GV80 production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hyundai Palisade<\/a> recorded its best sales month in March just before the U.S. imposed shelter-in-place protocols that essentially forced automakers to stop car production. Although manufacturers in various industries have reopened in May, car sales are still expected to face challenges in the next few months or possibly until the end of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With regard to the GV80, Genesis CEO Mark Del Rosso told online publication Roadshow that there are nearly 10,000 preorders for the SUV as of May. He also said there were no problems with the launch of the model and that there are no foreseeable issues with the supply that’s expected to arrive in summer.
