As the official reveal for its first production all-electric vehicle draws near, Honda shares more technical details on the upcoming model.<\/p>\n

Developed with the main goal of offering a “rewarding, responsive driving experience,” the EV is equipped with an under-the-floor 35.5-kWh Lithium-ion battery thoughtfully placed centrally within the wheelbase. This creates a perfect 50:50 weight balance and a low center of gravity for the car.<\/p>\n

Honda also says the E will be offered with a rear-wheel drive, with the wheels connected to a high-torque electric motor. This setup allows “steering precision even at high acceleration” and optimum stability and handling, according to the company. The new model is primarily designed to make maneuvering in urban environments easier for drivers, as well as making city driving more enjoyable.<\/p>\n

The battery pack, meanwhile, is water-cooled and can be charged by either a Type 2 AC connection or a CCS2 DC rapid charger integrated into the hood. The rapid charger provides a quick charge of up to 80 percent in just 30 minutes. When fully charged, the Honda E’s battery can provide power up to a range of approximately 124 miles or 200 kilometers.<\/p>\n

Honda also previously revealed that the car will not have traditional sideview mirrors but will instead have cameras mounted to each front door. These cameras will then send images to two screens mounted on the ends of the dashboard. Drivers will also be given an option to select between normal and wide-angle views.<\/p>\n

Complementing the minimalistic exterior of the Honda E are configurable touchscreens in the interior. The car will be fitted with two 12-inch units across the dashboard that comes with wood-like accents.<\/p>\n

While the company has not disclosed the official release date of the Honda E, what’s confirmed is that the electric vehicle will arrive in dealerships before the end of the year.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
