Toyota<\/a> will no longer offer a TRD package for the Corolla in 2021, but it’s not all sad news for lovers of the long-running model. Because instead of the TRD, the sedan is getting the next best thing—the Apex Edition Sport Package.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The limited-edition package will be available as an optional add-on to consumers who are purchasing either the SE or XSE trim of the 2021 Toyota Corolla. It will include a tuned suspension, an upgraded chassis, as well as optional summer tires wrapped in 18-inch aluminum wheels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aside from the three new features, the Apex package will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers up to 169 horsepower. The engine originally comes as an option on the regular Corolla, but will be issued as standard equipment on the Apex and will be paired with a sport-tuned exhaust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toyota is only producing 6,000 units of the Apex Edition Corollas, most of which will be equipped with a Continuously Variable Transmission, save for the 120 units that will get a manual transmission based on the SE variant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aside from powertrain changes, the Apex Corolla is also getting styling updates for the next model year. This includes a few improvements on the front fascia such as an aggressive-looking rear and front spoiler, copper accents, and new coil springs that lower the sedan by 0.6 inches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a tuned suspension and solid stabilizer bars engineered with higher rigidity, drivers get to enjoy an improved steering response and reduced body roll in the sedan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2021 Toyota Corolla<\/a> Apex Edition is set to go on sale in the United States beginning this fall. Pricing has not yet been revealed but is expected to sit somewhere around $23,230 to $26,680 for the SE and XSE trim levels, respectively.
