Customers looking to purchase a 2021 Chevrolet Equinox<\/a> will have to make do with the 1.5-liter turbo-four engine after Chevrolet dropped the Equinox’s 2.0-liter variant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, come the 2022 model year, a 2.0-liter engine could return for the model despite it being a slow seller, only accounting for 10% of Equinox sales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chevrolet did not divulge any more details about the engine, but a spokesperson for the company said it will be a “new” 2.0-liter engine joining the refreshed Equinox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Equinox was originally scheduled to arrive for the 2021 model year after it was introduced at the 2020 Chicago Auto Show in February. But General Motors made a few changes in the rollout plans owing to the coronavirus pandemic. So instead, the new Equinox will now be a 2022 model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also affected by the reshuffling in the GM headquarters is the production of other Chevrolet models such as the Traverse, Bolt EV, and Camaro.
