Ahead of its release for the 2021 model year, the upcoming version of the Chevrolet Tahoe<\/a> is reportedly being fitted with an independent rear suspension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was recently revealed that the vehicle will soon be having an independent rear suspension setup, finally dropping the live axle from its lineup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chevrolet’s move gives the full-size SUV an opportunity to catch up with its segment rival, Ford Expedition<\/a>, when it comes to ride quality and cargo space volume. This also proves rumors based on spy shots taken in 2018 where the Tahoe was seen with what looks like a multi-link suspension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A multi-link rear suspension is a great add-on for large SUVs as it makes the ride smoother without the live axle bouncing underneath, allow for more space at the back, and increase the passenger capacity of the vehicle. These are all beneficial for a model like the Tahoe, whose main selling point is family-hauling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to reports, the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe will be equipped with an independent rear suspension, which should make it more competitive in terms of ride quality and cargo space volume vs its rival, the Ford Expedition.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Chevrolet Tahoe<\/a>‘s new suspension setup comes with the T1 truck platform of General Motors, which the model is part of, alongside other next-generation GM vehicles such as the Suburban, Cadillac, Escalade, and GMC Yukon. And as part of the platform, these models will also get GM’s all-new Global B electrical architecture, which gives additional computing power, over-the-air updates, and advanced network security, especially for highly automated vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aside from the change to an independent rear suspension, the Tahoe is also reported to carry a 3.6-liter V6, as well as 5.3- and 6.2-liter V8 engines. There is also a possibility that the new turbocharged 2.7-liter inline-four, which is also carried by its sibling Silverado, will be added to the Tahoe. Hybrid versions of the model are expected to be released with 8- or 10-speed automatic transmissions being offered as options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
