Not much is known about the upcoming Ford F-150<\/a> Raptor for the 2021 model year, especially when all the attention was on the new Bronco. But with the recent spy photos that came out, a few details on what customers can expect from the model came to light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Raptor was recently spotted testing, and based on the photos, the truck will get a rear coil-spring suspension setup. It’s different from the two previous generations of Raptors, which were built with rear leaf-spring setup, the same engineering that customers will find in the regular 2021 F-150.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the rear coil-spring suspension, doors of the Raptor can enjoy progressive spring rates. It will also be ideal for high-speed off-roading, especially with the four trailing links that come with a Panhard rod setup. Moreover, it improves articulation and wheel travel on the vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rear coil-suspension is also used on Ram trucks since 2009 and will be included in the upcoming Ram TRX that can reportedly deliver up to 700 horsepower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aside from the new suspension setup, also expected on the 2021 F-150 Raptor are Fox shocks with adaptive live wire dampers. These new additions are likely Ford’s approach to making the model more competitive in the segment, considering the arrival of the Hellcat-powered Ram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although, if Ford<\/a> is bent on going head to head with the Ram TRX, throwing in the 6.2-liter V-8 found on the GT500 or at least an improved version of the twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission can help its cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both the front and rear ends of the truck were covered up, which could mean they will have the same headlights and taillights as the regular F-150. In terms of the hood and grille, though, the Raptor gets a more aggressive styling and blacked-out grille. It will also have huge all-terrain tires with skid plates,  a wider body with bigger fender flares, and will ride higher than the standard trucks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2021 F-150 Raptor is expected to go on sale by the end of the year with a starting price of around $55,000.
