Ford has been the king of the truck segment in the United States for a few years now, thanks to the ultra-popular F-150. It is to this extent that a lot of other automakers have made it the benchmark of the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ram<\/a>, for one, is very vocal about its efforts to compete with Ford, especially after it managed to overtake the Chevrolet Silverado in the 2019 rankings. More specifically, the automaker’s decision to equip its Ram 1500 TRX model with a supercharged SRT Hellcat and a variety of off-road features can be seen as a direct challenge to the F-150 Raptor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the arrival of the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX getting close, Ram seems to be becoming more and more confident about its product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A special Easter egg that the automaker added on the upcoming TRX (sometimes referred to as the “T-Rex” because of the similar sound) takes a jab at the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One Instagram user shared that an embossed design on the airbox cover of the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX’s engine shows an illustration of a Tyrannosaurus rex chomping on a Velociraptor. It’s pretty clear what Ram is trying to communicate through the image: that the TRX is ready to devour the Raptor once it arrives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Judging on the information available about the upcoming vehicle, it does appear to pose a serious threat to the current market leader. It is poised to be the most powerful truck in the global market with a capability of up to 702 horsepower. The truck is also set to be equipped with off-road gear such as adaptive 2.5-inch Bilstein dampers, 13 inches of suspension travel, a solid Dana 60 rear axle, as well as 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It remains to be seen how Ford plans to address the competition, but 2021 is bound to get interesting between the two brands.
