Amid reports about upcoming Hyundai<\/a> releases, there is one model the public seems to have forgotten about—the Starex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If there’s anybody wondering what happened to the once-popular vehicle, here’s the scoop: it’s still in the market, with it’s current generation having been around since 2007. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sounds ripe for an update, right? Hyundai appears to think so. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, a prototype of the reliable people hauler was spotted while testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the new Starex being heavily camouflaged, a few details can be seen from the spy images circulating online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the front end of the vehicle, what looks like a massive grille can be discerned spanning both ends of the headlights. It is joined by split-type headlamps that are similar to those found on the latest versions of the Tucson and Santa Fe. This suggests that Hyundai might be sticking with this styling option for the time being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the huge grille is not entirely surprising, customers could take interest in the vehicle’s front overhang, which is significantly shorter than the previous generations of the Starex. Also worth noticing are the large windows as well as the equally huge greenhouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to the body, the new Starex seems to be retaining the same boxy shape it is known for; meaning, the model is likely keeping the same cabin and cargo capacity, if not more. The interior of the minivan, meanwhile, is reportedly boasting a floating infotainment system and a uniquely arranged dashboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More details are expected to come in the coming months—Hyundai has yet to announce information on the powertrain, but a hybrid version is rumored to also be available—as the new-generation Hyundai Starex gets closer to its debut in 2021.
