Rumors and theories can now be laid to rest as Ford<\/a> announced the power, torque, payload, and towing figures of the new F-150 pickup for the 2021 model year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of six powertrain options will be available for the well-loved model, five of which are carryovers from its previous generation. The newest of the lot is the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 hybrid engine that the automaker refers to as the PowerBoost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among all the powertrain options, the PowerBoost hybrid engine is the most powerful at 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque. Based on the details shared by Ford, it will be paired with a 35-kW electric motor powered by a 1.5-kWh lithium-ion battery and registers a maximum payload of 2,120 pounds and a towing capacity of 12,700 pounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other engine choices also register slight improvement from their 2020 versions, particularly the 5.0-liter V-8 with 400 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque as well as the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6, which is now at 400 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The increase brings up the 5.0-liter V-8’s maximum payload of 3,325 pounds and a towing capacity of 13,000 pounds. The 3.5-liter EcoBoost, meanwhile, has a payload of 3,250 and a towing capability of 14,000 pounds, the highest among all F-150 engine options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 3.3-liter V-6 that makes up to 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque will be the base engine for the truck. It will have the same output as the 2020 generation with a maximum payload of 1,985 pounds and a towing capacity of 8,200 pounds. Still not bad for an entry-level truck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joining the fray is the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 that retains its 325 horsepower, 400 lb-ft of torque, 2,480-lb payload, and 10,100-lb tow. And completing the list is the 3.0-liter Power Stroke V-6 diesel that packs up to 250 horsepower, 440 lb-ft of torque, a 1,840-lb maximum payload, and 12,10 pounds of towing capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new-generation F-150<\/a> is set to arrive at dealerships this fall. The starting price is pegged at $30,635 for the base XL model, while the range-topping Limited Super Crew with a four-wheel-drive retails at $75,945.
