A month after the debut of its concept version, the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer<\/a> was recently spotted in production form. The prototype looks consistent with the original concept, but with a few styling differences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on spy photos released online, the production version of the SUV will feature notably smaller wheels and tires, more realistic looking lighting elements, and a slightly subdued grille.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dimensions of the tire sizes have not been confirmed, but the photos suggest that both the wheels and tires are going to be smaller than the 24-inch ones seen on the Grand Wagoneer concept.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it’s possible for Jeep to offer a huge-wheel option to customers, experts hypothesize for wheels falling within the 20 to 22-inch range to be standard for the SUV. But for now, the smaller-sized wheels seen on the prototype, which effectively highlight the vehicle’s boxy and tall structure, are what’s out in the open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other highlight accessories also came out a bit differently, particularly the grille shape and headlights. The fanciful teak accents that were seen on the concept are missing from the prototype and the taillights are also more low-key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeep is set to release both the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer variants of the full-size SUV, with the Grand Wagoneer aimed at customers who are looking for a vehicle with more luxurious trim and features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two variants will ride on the same body-on-frame architecture as the Ram 1500 pickup, except that they will have an independent rear suspension. Three rows of seats will also be included as standard equipment across the lineup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeep<\/a> previously introduced the Grand Wagoneer concept with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, but the automaker is expected to offer gas-powered V-6 and V-8 engines as well, similar to the Ram range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pricing for the full-size SUVs is expected to start at $60,000, with a fully-equipped model likely going up to $100,000. Production for the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer is set to begin next summer, with the first batch of samples scheduled to arrive at dealerships sometime next year as a 2022 model.
