News about Jeep<\/a> may have mainly revolved around the upcoming Wagoneer and the Grand Wagoneer in the last couple of weeks, but this does not mean the automaker is neglecting its other models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, there is another vehicle that is gearing up for a refresh for the 2022 model year—the Jeep Compass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The crossover recently received a new turbocharged engine and dual-clutch automatic transmission when it debuted its 2021 version in Europe. But for the United States market, the model is getting a complete redesign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spy photographers recently spotted a Compass prototype while testing and the latest set of images provide a clear look at the most distinct changes on the vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most noticeable are the automaker’s iconic seven-slat grille, which is now larger for the Compass, as well as headlights that feature slimmer clusters. The front bumper also seems to have been slightly revised, while the rear end gets new taillight graphics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, a photo of the interior appears to reveal a larger tablet-style screen for the Compass’ infotainment and navigation system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It remains to be seen whether Jeep will give the crossover a new powertrain, so customers can expect the return of the 2.4-liter inline-four cylinder engine for now. It delivers 184 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque while paired to either a six-speed or a nine-speed automatic transmission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There has been no official announcement on the release of the refreshed Compass<\/a>, but it is expected to arrive sometime in 2021 as a 2022 model.
