Before the current version of the Subaru Forester<\/a> was released in the market, its predecessor was offered with an XT trim powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers up to 250 horsepower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trim was dropped from the lineup in favor of the current model, ultimately causing the Forester to lag behind its turbocharged market rivals such as the Mazda CX-5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the United States, the Forester is sold with a naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter boxer four-cylinder that makes 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, in Japan, Subaru has brought back the turbo treatment to its lineup through the Forester Sport. The automaker has put in place of the vehicle’s 2.0-liter turbo engine a new 1.8-liter turbocharged direct-injection engine, which is listed to produce 177 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comes now the question: Will this turbocharged Forester Sport reach the US market? Fans can only hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some additional features for the new Forester Sport include specially developed dampers, coil springs, a blacked-out front grille, a roof spoiler, and 18-inch dark metallic aluminum wheels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its cabin has premium suede and leather seats, suede door trims, and aluminum sport pedals, plus an instrument panel with a built-in camera that can detect the driver’s face and adjust the seating position, door mirror angle, and air conditioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Forester Sport turbo retails for ¥3,289,900 ($31,434). It’s slightly more expensive than its naturally-aspirated counterpart in the US at $29,395.
