When Ford<\/a> discontinued the sales of the Fiesta sedan and hatchback in the United States, the EcoSport sort of became the official replacement in the lineup to cater to buyers. While the model is technically a subcompact crossover, its overall styling is aimed at attracting owners looking for a close alternative to the now-missing Fiesta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If there’s one thing about the EcoSport, it’s not an off-roading vehicle. Judging by its front-wheel-drive configuration, the crossover cannot go head-to-head with other serious off-roaders in the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Ford seems to think otherwise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Spanish website Autonocion, the Blue Oval is set to launch the new Ford EcoSport Active on November 6. And along with this report, the blog published what it claims to be images of the upcoming model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on the images, it’s clear the upcoming vehicle is an EcoSport, but with an “Active” badge on the exterior. It sports new wheel designs as well as additional body cladding around the wheel arches, fake skid plates on the front and back, tinted windows, and darkened lowered body panels. It also appears to be equipped with a manual transmission. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nothing much has changed for the interior, save for the letter “A” now embroidered on the driver and passenger seatbacks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This EcoSport Active, which is powered by a 1.0-liter EcoBoost inline-three that delivers up to 125 horsepower, will be sold in Spain. Whether it will make its way to dealerships in the US remains to be determined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the North American EcoSport is offered with an optional 2.0-liter inline-four, as well as front- and all-wheel-drive configurations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ford has not issued a response to inquiries regarding the arrival of the EcoSport Active in the US.
