Following the release of the Ram 1500<\/a> TRX pickup powered by the Hellcat supercharged V-8, the automaker was revealed to be working on an electric version of the model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fiat Chrysler CEO Mike Manley confirmed the news during the company’s recent third-quarter earnings call, where he said to “stay tuned for a little while,” according to a report published by the Detroit Free Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At present, FCA does not have a fully electric vehicle in its lineup in the United States. However, the car manufacturer was previously reported to be planning on releasing electric versions of some of its global models, namely the Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio sports cars, the MC20 supercar, as well as the Jeep Wrangler 4xe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These models are set to arrive at dealerships early next year and will likely be followed by the newly announced EV based on the 1500 pickup. However, a spokesperson for the brand declined to comment on the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several automakers have ventured into the electric vehicle market in the last few years, including Ford and GMC. Other newcomers in the industry such as Bollinger, Rivian, and Lordstown are also providing competition for Tesla’s upcoming Cybertruck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
