EPA rates for the 2021 Ford F-150<\/a> are out and while the numbers are not entirely surprising for the standard truck, its a different yet interesting story for its hybrid counterpart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on the agency’s estimates, the F-150 Powerboost Hybrid and the twin-turbo 3.5-liter hybrid V6 variant have a fuel economy of 24 miles per gallon (mpg) city, 24 mpg highway, and also 24 mpg combined. This makes the vehicle the most fuel-efficient pickup truck versus other gasoline-powered models such as Ram and Chevrolet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technically speaking, Chevy does not have a hybrid pickup. The 2.7-liter turbo-four engine powering its Silverado model is also the most efficient gasoline engine of all. However, it lags behind the F-150 Hybrid, with its 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque, in terms of fuel returns at only 19, 22, and 20 mpg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ram is also no competition for the Blue Oval<\/a>, earning only 19, 24, and 21 mpg for its 3.6-liter V6 paired with the brand’s eTorque mild-hybrid system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is only the diesel-powered Chevrolet and Ram trucks that manage to surpass the numbers of the F-150 Hybrid. EPA estimates for the diesel 2021 F-150 are not yet released, so it remains to be seen how it fares against its market rivals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
