It appears Toyota<\/a> is ready to unveil the next-generation Tundra pickup for the 2022 model year, which marks its first complete redesign since it was relaunched as a full-size truck in 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leaked images of the headlight on full display previously circulated online, and now a new set of spy photos are out. These prototype photos suggest that the upcoming vehicle will look starkly different from its predecessor, complete with a uniquely shaped headlight assembly and striking grille.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With earlier photos showing the vehicle’s rear underbody covered, some speculated the 2022 Tundra will get a new suspension. Among the options thrown in the discussions were coil springs, air springs, and an independent rear suspension, which is yet to be confirmed when Toyota reveals the overhauled truck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other changes rumored for the Tundra include a new powertrain setup. A twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 that delivers up to 416 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque is believed to be taking the place of the naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V-8 powering the current model . Also expected to be part of the list is a hybrid version of the turbocharged V-6, which will be Toyota’s answer to the new Ford F-150 hybrid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technically speaking, the automaker has yet to confirm the arrival of the redesigned Tundra<\/a>. But a spokesperson for the company told online publication Car and Driver that “full-size pickup trucks remain an important segment for Toyota and our customers, and while we cannot confirm future product details, we are excited for what’s to come.”<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
