There is no denying the Trailblazer was a great addition to the Chevrolet<\/a> lineup. It came at a time when the automaker was in need of a premium-looking vehicle that could replace the aging Trax, which it shared the same platform with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, the subcompact crossover earned a solid following and generated impressive sales numbers. But if there was one aspect that the vehicle fell short on, it’s safety. And this meant everything for a lot of customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Trailblazer earned four stars for its crash test rating. While it’s not entirely a poor mark, Chevrolet refused to accept it and requested the agency to re-test the vehicle in late October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The automaker implemented the NHTSA’s initial findings on the improved Trailblazer and successfully got an upgraded five-star rating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chevrolet confirmed to GM Authority that the 2021 Trailblazer will have three different window stick label safety ratings, which will all depend on the vehicle’s production date. Those built between January 20 and July 13 this year will have four stars, while those with build dates between July 14 and November 30 will not be rated. Finally, Trailblazers built from December 1 of this year and later will be given five stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The automaker said it will send new five-star-rated stickers to replace the “not rated stickers” for some of the vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“GM engineers were able to identify ways to improve the safety ratings of the Trailblazer,” GM spokesperson Rita Kass-Shamoun said. “Our engineer made hardware and software changes to improve the vehicles’ performance during frontal and side MDB (moving deformable barrier) NCAP crash tests.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chevrolet sold a total of 10,322 units of the Trailblazer in the United States in the third quarter of this year, bringing the overall total to 17,024 units sold and counting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aside from boasting improved safety, the model is also among the first to be equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. It is part of the Technology Package that costs $1,720.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer<\/a> is offered with a 1.2-liter turbo engine as standard equipment on the three lower trims and a 1.3-liter engine is available as an option for higher trim levels.
