Barely a year in the market, the 2020 Ford Explorer<\/a> is being recalled for the tenth time this year by the federal government. Alongside it is the Lincoln Aviator, which has also had its fair share of recalls (a total of six) in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the number of vehicles being recalled this time is small, it does not bode well for the brand, which admitted to a less-than-mediocre launch for the popular Explorer nameplate. The problem, according to Ford, is in the motor mount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on the recall documents, the problematic motor mount may loosen and eventually disconnect from the engine. This could result in a sudden loss of power, which increases the risk of a crash. Ford clarified, though, that it is not aware of any crashes or injuries related to the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 1,405 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs from the 2020-2021 model years are affected by the recall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ford will release recall notifications starting February 2021.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Ford advises customers to bring their vehicles to the nearest dealer to avail of the fix, saying it has instructed its technicians to replace the right-hand motor mount fasteners in the affected vehicles to secure everything in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recall notifications will be released beginning February 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On top of the SUV recall, Ford<\/a> also issued a separate recall for its E-Series vans equipped with the 7.3-liter V8 engine. According to the automaker, some units may not have proper insulation for the passenger compartment. Too much heat coming from the engine could cause burns to occupants, but Ford claimed there are no reports of injuries related to the problem so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The van recall affects a total of 29,344 units. Upon return to dealers, the vehicles will be inspected for possible gaps in insulation coverage. If a missing insulation is discovered, technicians will install one.
