In most engines, the crankcase vent valve<\/a> sits in the valve cover<\/a>, held by a rubber grommet with a hose running off it toward the intake. Other common spots include the rear of the cylinder head, the oil fill tube, and the intake manifold<\/a> at the end of a short hose. Look for a small plastic or metal elbow or canister mounted on the opposite side of the engine from the fresh-air inlet, since the two are spaced apart on purpose to sweep air across the whole crankcase.
