Jeep<\/a> is set to begin production of the fifth-generation Grand Cherokee SUV and it’s hyping up customers with a new variant—a three-row model dubbed the Grand Cherokee L.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the well-loved SUV will continue to be offered with a two-row body style, Jeep is introducing another option to customers looking for a bigger off-roader. The Grand Cherokee L is capable of seating up to seven people while keeping its off-road cred intact. At least as far as division leader Jim Morrison is concerned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Don’t let the third row fool you, this Jeep is still capable,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspired by the original Wagoneer, the Grand Cherokee L features design details similar to the Grand Wagoneer concept. It comes with a seven-slot grille and slim LED headlights. A gloss black roof is also available on its Overland and Summit trims, and there’s a Summer Reserve Package that comes with a set of 21-inch wheels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on Jeep’s timeline, the Grand Cherokee<\/a> is set to enter production by the end of the year with a new variant in tow: a plug-in hybrid 4xe. Moreover, the Jeep wants its customers to keep their eyes peeled for the hands-free driving capability that will arrive on the Grand Cherokee’s second model year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Grand Cherokee L, meanwhile, is scheduled to go on sale sometime this spring. Final pricing for the SUV has not been announced, but it is expected to get a starting price of just under $40,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it arrives, the model will be available in four trim levels: the Laredo, Limited, Overland, and Summit. It will join other three-row SUVs in the Jeep portfolio such as the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, and compete with the Ford Explorer and Expedition, Chevrolet Traverse and Tahoe, and Toyota Highlander and Sequoia.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
