Better late than never.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was probably Chevrolet’s thinking after announcing the highly awaited Equinox and Traverse crossovers are finally on their way to dealerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originally planned as 2021 models, the two models were extremely delayed for production due to factory shutdowns and supply issues brought by the coronavirus-pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, the automaker is happy to put everything behind as it shares the latest update on the two models: instead of being sold as 2021 models, the Equinox and Traverse crossovers will roll out of the assembly later this year as 2022 models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“They’re going to be a big part of our plans for ’21,” Chevrolet’s Vice President of Marketing Steve Majoros told Automotive News. He also shared that the brand is looking to expand the range with special-edition trims that are popular with customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First to arrive this summer will be the Equinox, which debuted at the 2020 Chicago Auto Show. The refreshed two-row family-hauler will sport an updated look that resembles the Blazer. Too, it will get a new RS trim for the next model year complete with gloss-black trim accents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The model will be equipped with either a 1.5-liter or 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 engine and will be offered with a standard front-wheel drive. An all-wheel-drive setup, meanwhile, will be available as an option. Customers can also look forward to new safety systems, including a lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and a following-distance motor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Traverse, on the other hand, will arrive at dealer lots in the third quarter of this year. Whereas the styling changes in the Equinox are easily recognizable, the Traverse has it subtler. The model will get a revised grille, headlights, and taillights, as well as new wheel designs. It will be powered by a 3.6-liter v6 engine paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The larger crossover will also feature an 8-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, plus a slew of standard safety systems such as automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
