It won’t be long until customers get their hands on the all-new Hyundai Tucson<\/a> for the 2022 model year as Hyundai announced the model has officially entered production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Up for a more aggressive styling compared to its predecessors, the new Tucson is intending to make its segment rivals look ordinary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The all-new Tucson is being built at Hyundai’s facility in Montgomery, Alabama. It marks the first time a compact SUV is manufactured outside its home in South Korea. The Alabama  factory is also working on three other Hyundai models: the Sonata, Elantra, and Santa Fe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to the start of production, Hyundai expanded the size of the factory to ensure that the assembly line can accommodate all four models at once. Additionally, the automaker said it is confident that the Tucson crossover will be a huge success in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Adding the fourth Hyundai vehicle to HMMA’s [production] lineup will help the Hyundai brand meet the growing demand for SUVs in the North American market,” Hyundai Motor North America President and CEO Jose Munoz said. “It will also better position HMMA to fully utilize its vehicle assembly capacity.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hyundai Tucson was previously known in the global market as the ix35 and has been the brand’s best-selling model. It has a reputation for having a unique approach in styling, characterized by the grille’s “kinetic jewel surfacing details” akin to the Elantra and Sonata sedans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the US market, Hyundai<\/a>equipped the SUV with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 190 horsepower and 182 lb-ft of torque, paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It will also be available with a hybrid model powered by the combination of a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four and electric motor, delivering 230 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
