Scoring low crash ratings is unacceptable for vehicles these days, especially after a lot of models have received recognition from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety as Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ awardees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So when it was revealed earlier this year that the 2021 Nissan Rogue<\/a> only managed to eke out a two-star crash rating in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s tests, customers were not thrilled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In particular, the ratings were for the front passenger crash test of Rogue models built at Nissan’s Kyushu facility in Japan before January 28, 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As soon as the results came out, the company went to work to remedy the problem for all vehicles in question, even those manufactured in Tennessee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Rouge units have not been tested, but Nissan says it is confident that the structural tweaks will yield improvements. Moreover, the company is giving customers the option to have their Kyushu-built vehicles retrofitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Nissan is committed to vehicle safety and is pleased with the 2021 Nissan Rogue’s overall 4-star NCAP safety rating. All 2021 Rogue vehicles fully comply with federal safety standards,” the automaker shared in a statement. “To ensure customer confidence and satisfaction, Nissan will soon launch a service campaign to update the 2021 Rogue vehicles produced in Kyushu prior to January 28, 2021. Owners will receive notification as to when to bring their vehicle in for updates.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
