Ford<\/a> was revealed to have recently built 21 small pickup trucks at the its plant in Hermosillo, Mexico, the same facility the revived Bronco Sport is being built.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A photo posted on the Maverick Truck Club blog showed the new model (identified as “C-Pick Up”), suggesting it is the upcoming Ford Maverick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Maverick is a new model expected to be released for the 2022 model year. It will reportedly be designed as a unibody pickup that shares similar parts with the Bronco Sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ford’s February sales report confirms the assembly of the still-to-be-identified vehicle. However, when asked to shed light on the “C-Pick Up,” a spokesperson for the company refused to comment other than “what’s in the production report.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other than its unibody, the Maverick is believed to feature a traverse-engine platform like the smaller Bronco, which was previously seen on its four-door prototypes. This means a crew-cab pickup is also going to be available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for the powertrain, the Maverick could be getting a turbocharged 2.0-liter that makes 245 horsepower (still the same with the Bronco Sport) and paired with an all-wheel-drive. For a cheaper option, a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder that delivers 181 horsepower will likely be offered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In terms of pricing, the Maverick is expected to go on sale with a starting price that’s lower than the Ranger’s $26,015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In early 2020, Ford dealers were told that the new truck would start at just under $20,000; however, if it’s sharing the same features as the Bronco Sport, it might be difficult to go lower than the $28,315 starting price of the small crossover.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
