Hyundai has released details on the highly talked about new technology of the upcoming 2020 Sonata hybrid. The vehicle first caught the attention of car aficionados when it was introduced at the 2019 New York Auto Show, sporting a sleek design inspired by the Le Fil Rouge Concept.<\/p>\n

At the time, the 2020 Sonata was revealed to be getting two engine options – a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 180 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque and an optional 2.5-liter engine with 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque.<\/p>\n

Now, Hyundai confirmed that the hybrid car will be the brand’s first model to be equipped with Active Shift Control transmission technology.<\/p>\n

The hybrid Sonata comes with a one-of-a-kind styling with its unique cross hole cascading grille, rear spoiler, and new alloy wheels that improve the car’s aerodynamics. Aside from these, it will also get a solar roof that recharges the battery for an increased driving range while also preventing unnecessary battery discharge. With the addition of the solar roof, the hybrid’s travel distance will increase 808 miles more annually.<\/p>\n

The model will also be the first Hyundai model to use the new Active Shift Control transmission technology, which Hyundai claims to improve driving experience, acceleration, and fuel economy. It comes with a Hybrid Control Unit that controls the electric motor and align rotational speeds of the engine and transmission. And according to the brand, it also improves the durability of the transmission by reducing friction while shifting gears.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the 2020 Sonata Hybrid will have a Digital Key which allows owners to lock and unlock the car, activate the alarm, and start the engine using a smartphone app. Pricing and date of availability in the US, however, has yet to be announced.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
