The competition in the off-road truck segment continues to heat up, more so with General Motors reportedly filing a second application to trademark its “AT4X.”<\/p>\n

The automaker previously filed for a patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in 2016, but the second one filed just last May was revealed to be filed with the Mexico Institute of Industrial Property (IMPL).<\/p>\n

According to reports, the application says, “land motor vehicles and structural parts thereof,” meaning GMC could be working on building an intensified off-road capable version of the Sierra AT4 variant from the company’s factory in Mexico.<\/p>\n

The rumored upcoming vehicle is expected to be more off-road-focused compared to the All Terrain trim, which was replaced by the 2019 Sierra. Meanwhile, the mention of structural parts suggest that consumers can expect something from the Sierra All Terrain X trim.<\/p>\n

When the X variant was adapted for the Sierra All Terrain, it brought a lot of upgrades for the model, including the Z71 Off-Road suspension package with Rancho monotube shocks, an Eaton locking rear differential, hill descent control, an underbody transfer case shield, 18 x 8.5-inch black aluminum wheels shod with Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac Mud Terrain tires, as well as a small power bump through a performance exhaust system.<\/p>\n
