Since 2015, the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Sierra have dominated the mid-size pickup truck segment in the United States. Toyota’s Tacoma may have shared a bit of the limelight, but it’s nowhere near the level of the other two.<\/p>\n

In recent years, however, the Ford Ranger and Jeep Gladiator have posed tough competition against its predecessors in the industry. Both have solid sales numbers and it’s becoming a source of worry for Chevrolet, whose aging twin truck models are not due for a refresh until at least 2023.<\/p>\n

GM is giving the GMC Sierra a new grille and minor interior tweaks sometime in 2021 or 2022.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

To somehow keep their customers loyal, and possibly attract more before the release of the next-generation Colorado and Sierra, General Motors is giving both models a limited update.<\/p>\n

According to reports, GM is giving the trucks new grilles and adding minor interior tweaks.<\/p>\n

As for why the brand won’t give the models a complete upgrade instead, insiders believe it’s because GM doesn’t see the aging twins still being competitive in the market.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the next generation of the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra are reportedly going to be part of an all-new global platform. Hence, it makes sense for GM to wait until the platform is ready before launching an upgraded Silverado and Sierra.<\/p>\n

The upcoming front fascia and cabin updates on both trucks will coincide with the brand’s mid-cycle enhancement that will also see updates on other parts of the trucks as well as their exteriors.<\/p>\n

Among the expected upgrades is the rumored addition of the MultiPro tailgate on the Silverado, which is currently only available on the Sierra.<\/p>\n
