Earlier this month, reports surfaced that Ford Motor Co. has finally decided on what to call its Baby Bronco–the Bronco Adventurer. But it looks like that is no longer the case as recent reports claim the off-road-ready crossover will be assigned a different nameplate.<\/p>\n

According to Ford Authority, inside sources with knowledge on Ford’s product plan are saying that the upcoming Baby Bronco will officially be called the Bronco Sport. The company, however, has not
\nreleased any statement as to why the compact SUV will be called as such.<\/p>\n

With the vehicle’s launch still a year from now, there is nothing wrong with Ford dilly-dallying on what to name its new crossover. The Bronco Sport brand also does not come as a surprise as it was one of the names for which the automaker filed a trademark earlier this year along with the Bronco Scout, Bronco Big Bend, and Bronco Outer Banks. The other three are seen as potential names of trim levels or packages given that Ford is reportedly building a family of vehicles around the Bronco nameplate.<\/p>\n

The new Bronco will be based on a different platform unlike its previous generations that were based on the Ford Ranger’s body-on-frame platform. Instead, it will follow the Ford Escape’s front-wheel-drive unibody setup, which the company refers to as the C2 platform.<\/p>\n

The smaller crossover will be equipped with a V8 engine with a turbocharged four-cylinder expected to be offered as a standard. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid models are also likely to be available.<\/p>\n

The Bronco Sport is anticipated to debut sometime in 2020, while a full-size Bronco is scheduled for release in 2021.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
