It’s no secret that Nissan is working on an all-electric crossover scheduled for release sometime in 2020 as a 2021 model. But as the vehicle’s official launch draws near, more and more details are circulating about the next possible gamechanger for the automaker.<\/p>\n

Announcing the development of an electric vehicle is hardly news these days as most players in the automotive industry are dabbling their fingers in the constantly growing segment. What automakers do, however, is pack their respective models with as much features as possible to ensure quality performance of the vehicle. For Nissan, it’s quick acceleration and long range that take priority.<\/p>\n

Based on preliminary information the company shared with dealers, the upcoming electric crossover will have a range of over 300 miles and can go from zero to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds. The numbers are better than those of Nissan’s current EV, the Nissan Leaf Plus, which has a range of 226 miles and accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds.<\/p>\n

The yet-to-be-named compact crossover will be built on Nissan’s new EV platform. Other than the quick acceleration and longer range, the model is also expected to be equipped with a more powerful motor and a larger battery pack than its predecessor.<\/p>\n

Nissan’s new all-electric vehicle is slated to make a debut in 2020, in time for the release of other electric vehicles from rival brands such as Chevrolet’s Bolt EUV and Volkswagen’s ID crossover.
