It’s no secret the 2020 model year will be the final production year for the Chevrolet Impala. The automaker is closing the curtains on the iconic sedan early next year and it looks like it won’t be revived anytime soon unless it transforms as a crossover. But for its final generation, Chevrolet is giving the well-loved Impala a graceful exit.<\/p>\n

According to a report published by Cars Direct, the 2020 Impala range will not be getting a four-cylinder engine. The entry-level LS trim will no longer be available as well, leaving the lineup with only two trim levels–LT and Premier–both of which will be exclusively available with the V6 engine.<\/p>\n

The addition of the V6 engine, however, puts the costs higher than the Impala’s previous generation. For the 2020 model year, a base trim Impala costs $32,495, inclusive of the $875 destination charge. This new pricing shows the sunsetting sedan gets an increase of more than $3,600 from the LS trim’s $28,895 price tag in 2019. The LT trim, however, only went up by $5 between the two model years.<\/p>\n

Asked about the removal of the entry-level LS trim, a spokesperson from Chevrolet said that the Impala’s LT and Premier trim levels cover about 90% of the entire production of the model. This means
\nthat sales won’t be greatly affected by the absence of the LS trim for the coming model year.<\/p>\n

Aside from the huge jump on the pricing, the final production of the Impala will see no significant changes for 2020. It will be powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine that makes 305 horsepower and 264 lb-ft of torque. It will also come with front-wheel-drive setup and a six-speed automatic transmission with an EPA rating of 28 mpg on highway driving.<\/p>\n
