Chevrolet may have low expectations when it launched the Colorado ZR2 Bison earlier this year, but the rugged pickup seems to have given the company something to bank on.<\/p>\n

According to a recently published report, the automaker is increasing the model’s production for the 2020 model year.<\/p>\n

“Capacity will be increased for 2020,” said American Expedition Vehicles Marketing Manager Matt Feldermann. “They are going to increase production. We’re not sure what the exact number is… but maybe 2,500.”<\/p>\n

American Expedition Vehicles is Chevrolet’s supplier for several components that are unique to the ZR2 Bison such as a revised front bumper, boron-steel skid plates, and a grille that spells out Chevrolet.<\/p>\n

But aside from a boost in production, Chevrolet is also giving the Bison all-standard upgrades that will be applied on the ZR2. This includes the Multimatic’s Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve dampers as well as a two-inch lift.<\/p>\n

For the upcoming model year, the pickup will also ride on 17-inch wheels with 31-inch tires. Options for the powertrain include a 308-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and a 186-horsepower 2.8-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder with a six-speed automatic transmission.<\/p>\n

The Bison package can be added to Chevrolet’s ZR2 trim level for an additional cost of $5,750.<\/p>\n
