After it launched the 2020 RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid models, Toyota is expanding the lineup with a third variant as it  announced the arrival of “the most powerful RAV4 yet,” the 2020 RAV4 Plug-in.<\/p>\n

Toyota is putting the spotlight on the Plug-in’s performance advantages as an electric vehicle: faster, more powerful, and more enjoyable to drive than its non-hybrid variant.<\/p>\n

According to Toyota, this is part of the company’s strategy to increase the RAV4 Hybrid sales by 150% compared to the previous generation.<\/p>\n

The new RAV4 Hybrid is scheduled to make a debut at the 2019 LA Auto Show in November. It will be the second PHEV model in Toyota’s history.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

With the plug-in hybrid formula (PHEV), the automaker is giving the Plug-in a larger battery pack and a charging port for a purely electric range. This allows the RAV4 to overtake current leading numbers among hybrid cars with 41 city, 38 highway, and 40 combined mpg estimates.<\/p>\n

The inclusion of a power reserver also adds a few more kilowatts out of one (or both) of the model’s two electric motors, besting the current hybrid’s 219 horsepower. Toyota, however, has not shared other details regarding specifications and numbers.<\/p>\n

What has been confirmed so far is that the RAV4 Plug-in will introduce a new color to the current list of options–Supersonic Red. It will also be covered by the company’s extended warranty for electrified vehicles batteries that stretches to 10 years or 150,000 miles.<\/p>\n
