With the constant updates on technology in cars these days, automakers put a lot of work into research and development for their brands to make sure they aren’t behind in the competition. But amid the latest vehicle features and add-ons, there is one thing that still sets Ford<\/a> apart from its rivals, one that effectively keeps its customers loyal–the SecuriCode keypad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Millions of vehicles released under the Ford and Lincoln umbrella have rolled out with the feature. But market demand is still so strong that each time the Blue Oval launches a vehicle without it, the company finds a way to add the feature almost immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fortunately for Ford, it appears the keypad remains the brand’s specialty and not one automaker has come close to develop its own to rival that of Ford’s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s standard in probably 90% of the vehicles we sell to the public,” said Rubin Correa, salesman at the Galpin Ford in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SecuriCode is integrated in every Ford and Lincoln model except for a select few which are primarily sold to commercial fleets like utility trucks. And for models where the SecuriCode is only optional, it only costs less than $50.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The keypad is a hit among people who enjoy outdoor activities such as swimming, cycling, and hiking, because they prefer leaving their keys inside the vehicle. The addition of the SecuriCode keypad allows them to lock their cars and use a unique combination to re-enter. It also works as a way to keep their mobile phones safe and dry, especially since Lincoln introduced its Phone as a Key feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
