The highly anticipated 2020 Ford Bronco could be getting a removable roll cage, at least that’s what the company’s latest patent application suggests.<\/p>\n

Ford’s off-roading SUV will be making a comeback next model year, and people can’t seem to stop talking about it. However, out of all the theories and reports about the new Bronco, patent applications reveal about the brand’s plans for the model the most, despite the applications still being far from the truth.<\/p>\n

Recently, another new Ford patent surfaced, and it is believed to be linked to the Ford Bronco. A recently published report about the patent suggests the new Bronco might be getting a removable roll cage for a more vintage-style, off-road driving experience.<\/p>\n

Whether the Ford Bronco will come with a removable roll cage or not remains to be seen until it makes its comeback in 2021.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Based on the images included in the application documents, the B- and C-pillars of the Bronco are bolted on the SUV’s window line, making them significantly easier to remove. As for the seatbelts, other images show that short pillars can also be bolted on to replace the roll cage and work as a point of attachment for the seatbelts.<\/p>\n

With this recent development, it seems likely that the Ford Bronco will challenge the Jeep Wrangler as a model that can provide a wide-open off-roading experience to consumers. Both models are considered to be rivals in their segments, and the Jeep Wrangler also comes with several removable components—the roll cage, however, is not one of them.<\/p>\n

Whether the Ford Bronco will come with a removable roll cage or not remains to be seen until it officially makes its comeback in 2021.<\/p>\n
