Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) recently announced a recall of 108,000 diesel-powered Ram 1500 trucks in the United States due to coolant leaks. The problem is also tied to reports of fires and four minor injuries.<\/p>\n

The recall affects trucks with build dates spanning 2014 through 2019 and was first discovered after FCA found microscopic cracks in the Exhaust Gas Recirculation coolers of some of the trucks.<\/p>\n

The injuries related to the problem reportedly occurred when customers tried to extinguish the engine compartment fires manually.<\/p>\n

Fiat Chrysler clarified it has not received reports of any crashes that may have been caused by the problem.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

According to Ram’s parent company, owners will be alerted when they can get recall repairs. But until FCA has reached out to them, customers are advised to monitor the coolant levels of their trucks and contact dealers if the levels become consistently low.<\/p>\n

FCA’s internal investigation on the model was prompted by dealer-service reports and other data streams. The company then discovered cracks that may allow coolant to “escape” and, in some instances, pose engine fire risk. FCA, however, clarified it has not received reports of any crashes that may have been caused by the problem.<\/p>\n

The recall does not include the redesigned current generation of the Ram 1500, as well as the gasoline-powered Ram 1500 from any model year.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
