If you think the 2019 Mazda CX-9 can’t get any better, think again.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Japanese automaker just released the newest generation of the CX-9 for the 2020 model year and it is much better than the already impeccable 2019 version.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although the 2020 model is not a full redesign of the CX-9, Mazda still boosted the car’s list of features to make it more competitive in a market full of three-row crossovers. Among the most notable changes in the CX-9 is the increase in torque. The model was previously powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 310 lb-ft of torque. But for the upcoming model year, the upgraded crossover can make as much as 320 lb-ft of torque in the same 250 horsepower, provided drivers use 93 octane fuel (when using 87 octane fuel, the figures go down to 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, which are still decent).<\/span><\/p>\n

Aside from improved torque numbers, the new CX-9 also boasts of an off-road traction assist button, which replaces the old traction control button. The new technology works by allowing drivers to navigate rougher terrains.<\/span><\/p>\n

“When the diagonal wheels lose traction, off-road traction assist will stop reducing the engine torque and increases the brake force on the wheels without traction. This transfers power to the wheels still on the ground to help allow the vehicles to regain traction and continue the drive,” Mazda explained.<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, the automaker increased the number of standard features on the entry-level Sport trim. The new-gen crossover gets a power driver’s seat, heated front seats, heated outside mirrors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and auto high-beams. The full suite of Mazda’s i-Activsense safety features is also now standard. This includes lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and other driver assistance technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Touring and Grand Touring trim levels, meanwhile, are given optional second-row captain’s chairs that come with armrests, as well as cup holders and USB ports integrated into the backside of the front center console. For the Grand Touring and Signature variants of the CX-9, the captain’s chairs are also heated.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 2020 Mazda CX-9 is offered for a base price of $34,835, inclusive of the destination charge. The premium Signature trim, on the other hand, starts at $47,160. The cars are set to arrive at dealerships this fall.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
