It looks like the upcoming MINI Electric will be off to a great start as soon as it launches as the automaker claims almost 80,000 customers have expressed “a keen interes”t in the model.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the BMW Group, the MINI brand is already reporting strong interest in the MINI Cooper SE, also known as the MINI Electric, the brand’s first production all-electric car. More than 78,000 customers have so far expressed a positive attitude toward the model versus the 45,000 in August.<\/span><\/p>\n

While the numbers may not actually refer to confirmed orders or reservations, a conversion rate of 50% still puts the amount of interest at a significant volume, especially considering that the MINI brand is only selling 300,000 to 350,000 cars annually.<\/span><\/p>\n

One reason for the public’s favorable response could be because of the attractive price point in the United States; however, it may also be because the MINI brand seems to be cutout for an all-electric vehicle.<\/span><\/p>\n

The automaker is set to begin production of the MINI Electric later this month and expectations are high even this early. If the current numbers translate to actual sales once the Electric is released, it is likely going to outsell its sibling, the plug-in hybrid 2019 MINI Cooper S E Countryman ALL4, which sold more than 31,000 units (11,999 through the end of September).<\/span><\/p>\n

The company has previously shared details on the specifications of the MINI Electric: it has a WLTP range of 124-144 miles and energy <\/span>consumption of 15.5-18 kWh per 100 kilometers, a top speed of 93 mph, a front-wheel-drive setup, and is equipped with an electric motor borrowed from the BMW i3S, which makes 184 horsepower and 270 Nm of torque.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
