General Motors, through a petition on Change.org, is lobbying for the Chevrolet Suburban to be named as the official vehicle of Texas.<\/p>\n

GM Authority was the first to report the petition, which uncovers the connection between the full-size SUV and Texas when the Texas Monthly referred to the Suburban as the National Car of Texas in a 1986 citation. Fast forward to 2019, GM mentioned several reasons why people should support the petition.<\/p>\n

“Today, there are more than 200,000 Suburbans on the road in Texas and a Suburban is sold approximately every 90 minutes in the state,” the petition said. “Additionally, Texas Chevrolet dealers account for five of the top 10 Chevrolet Suburban dealers in the U.S. In 2018, Texans bought more Suburbans than the smallest 25 states, combined!”<\/p>\n

Based on the claims, though, hailing the Chevrolet Suburban as the official vehicle of Texas is not a far-fetched idea as the model is considered the most Texan vehicle on the market today. More so with the release of the all-new Tahoe and Suburban just around the corner.<\/p>\n

It is also worth noting that the next generation of the Suburban will be exclusively built in GM’s assembly plant in Arlington, Texas. It’s not quite the Chevrolet Suburban Texas Edition, but it’s getting close.<\/p>\n

The petition has a target of 500 signatures and as of this writing, a total of 476 people expressed their support to make the Suburban the National Vehicle of Texas.<\/p>\n

In other news, GM has reportedly scheduled the official launch of the all-new Tahoe and Suburban on December 10.
