Nissan has announced a recall on a total of 394,025 vehicles over concerns of them being a fire risk.<\/p>\n

Prior to the latest recall, the Japanese automaker has previously recalled 215,000 units of the same crossovers and sedans.<\/p>\n

The company tries to explain the situation through a statement, saying, “These vehicles were previously recalled and unrepaired, or inspected and determined to not need a repair.”<\/p>\n

The recall was prompted by the same problem as before where an anti-lock brake pump seal could deteriorate. This could cause brake fluid to leak onto an electronic circuit board, which could then malfunction and cause a short. According to Nissan, there is a likelihood for this to cause a fire, hence the decision to issue the recall.<\/p>\n

To fix the problem, Nissan will replace the ABS actuator with a newly designed unit at no cost to customers, one that is said to be more robust than the one installed in the vehicles in question.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Among the affected vehicles and model years are: 2017-2018 Nissan Pathfinder, 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima, 2015-2017 Nissan Murano, and 2017 Infiniti QX60.<\/p>\n

The automaker says that if brake fluid ends up leaking onto the circuit board, owners will be notified through the ABS warning light, which is programmed to illuminate in the gauge cluster for more than 10 seconds. If this happens, “owners are advised to park the vehicle outdoors away from other vehicles and structures and to not drive the vehicle.” They are also instructed to keep the vehicles from areas where they could start a massive forest fire, particularly those in the California area.<\/p>\n
