Shortly after Ford Motor Co. ratified a new four-year labor agreement with the United Automobile Workers, documents showing the company’s investments for its facilities in the United States, as well as future products and names of some vehicles, surfaced.<\/p>\n

In particular, the agreement confirms the automaker is planning to build hybrid variants of the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator. Ford, however, did not immediately respond when asked for a comment on the reports.<\/p>\n

The hybrid models, though, are not surprising as there have also been reports of the Expedition and Navigator getting hybrid versions two years ago. When the previous report first came out, Ford was said to be releasing the large, electrified SUVs for the 2019 model year. Now that it’s not likely going to happen this year, it remains very possible for the coming years.<\/p>\n

Currently, Ford has a long list of hybrid and plug-in hybrid models in the works, including the Ford Escape, Lincoln Corsair, Explorer, Aviator, F-150, and the highly talked about Mustang Mach-E electric SUV.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The same report also claimed the Blue Oval is building an Escape plug-in hybrid, which the company has confirmed.<\/p>\n

The report also shared details found in Ford and UAW’s new labor agreement, specifically, about a hybrid version of the two models being built at the Kentucky Truck Plant.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the report mentions “other significant upgrades,” which could be referring to further electrification of both SUVs.<\/p>\n

Ford is reportedly investing $1 billion in the truck plant for all upcoming changes the company has planned. Whether it’s for the electrified versions of its tried and tested models has yet to be revealed.<\/p>\n
