General Motors is pulling out the Chevrolet<\/a> SS to fix a problem with the model’s steering assembly. This recent recall serves as a follow-up to a previous recall issued by GM due to power steering issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to documents filed by the company with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, GM said there has been an incorrect inspection for a group of Chevy SS sedans. In the original recall in 2017, dealers were instructed to inspect a total of 6,204 affected models and replace steering assembly gear if an incorrect terminal was found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But after a follow-up investigation conducted this year, GM discovered the inspection process missed out a few hundred SS models. Now, 476 more units of the sedan are being ordered for return to the dealer. While the vehicles have already undergone inspection and received an OK from dealers in the past, they still need to be fitted with a new terminal in the steering assembly<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The recall affects Chevrolet SS sedans from the 2014 to 2016 model years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GM said a gold-plated connector should be part of the steering assembly. Otherwise, there is a chance for the connector to corrode, causing the driver to experience a sudden loss of power steering. While manual steering will not be affected, the inadvertent loss of power steering increases the risk of a crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
