If there’s anything Chevrolet Blazer<\/a> lovers could wish for, it would most likely be additional power for the family crossover. Blazer owners would agree the vehicle’s current form is far from the ladder-on-frame SUV it once was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the crossover performs well as a family hauler, it falls short as a performance vehicle–even considering the sporty RS trim level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fortunately for supporters of the model, tuning house Lingenfelter has identified a market for modified Blazers in a recently published report. According to the report, Lingenfelter is currently working on a supercharged Chevy Blazer after they discovered consumers want a performance version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It might be something different and cool–we’re gonna try one,” Lingenfelter Performance Engineering Vice President Mark Rapson shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of the moment, the Blazer model with the closest specs to a performance model is powered with the range-topping 3.6-liter V6 engine and comes with an all-wheel-drive configuration. It makes 306 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque, which is decent enough for the size of the vehicle. Handling is also described as dynamic, which is seen as one of the reasons why Lingenfelter would want to try to supercharge the Blazer up to as much as 450 horsepower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By doing so, the model will become faster than the Ford Edge ST<\/a> by a margin and will put the model in the same ranks as the Jeep Grand Cherokee RT<\/a>, which makes 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque with its 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Blazer was not on our radar initially, but we knew it was the same motor [as the Colorado and Canyon] and the supercharger will fit [even though it’s transverse]. I can’t tell you how many people came up and said, ‘Can I get this installed on a Blazer?'” the company revealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this much interest in a performance Blazer, it won’t be surprising if Chevrolet considers the idea and produce a supercharger in the future.
