The crossover craze in the United States has killed another sedan, this time from the Buick<\/a> lineup.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The automaker just announced it will be dropping the last remaining sedan from its lineup–the Buick Regal–after the 2020 model year due to a growing lack of demand. Joining the Regal in its sunset is the bran’s only station wagon, TourX.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buick spokesman Stuart Fowle said a significant amount of its customers prefers crossovers and SUVs over sedans. According to him, 90 percent of Buick sales in the year 2019 is from high-riding models, which explains the need to kills the Regal off the lineup.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Buick continues to be ahead of the consumer shift towards SUVs,” Fowle said.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fowle’s statement reflects the company’s decision to discontinue the sedan, as well as the TourX wagon, which has reportedly attracted Buick’s wealthiest buyers. It also shows that automakers are finding it difficult to push out not just sedans but also wagons in the United States, especially if it’s not a Subaru Outback.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company, however, did not officially announce its exit from the passenger car segment, although it is slowly getting ahead of Ford<\/a> when it comes to phasing out its sedan models. Buick has rolled off the last Cascada from its assembly line earlier this year, while the Lacrosse was among the six models discontinued by General Motors in 2018.
