In the rising popularity of the so-called “EV Revolution,” Jeep is aiming to be the brand known as the “Greenest SUV Brand in the World.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Jeep’s parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, previously shared a five-year strategic plan from 2018. The document shows that the company will be focusing on electrification for the next few years, with all FCA brands getting hybridized powertrains.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the roadmap, Jeep will be one of the fastest to embrace electrification with its entire lineup planned to have hybrid versions by 2022. And depending on its market success, Jeep is also likely going to offer plug-in hybrids or battery-electric vehicles in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n

With these plans in the pipeline, Jeep is being touted as “the greenest SUV brand in the world,” as the automaker’s Global President Christian Meunier claims.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking at a recent Jeep drive event in New Zealand, Meunier said the hybrid Jeep models will be “the best Jeeps ever.” He also told WhichCar that the upcoming Jeep models will be the most capable and fastest models from the brand to date.<\/span><\/p>\n

Heralding the pack of green SUVs will be the plug-in hybrid variant of the Wrangler, scheduled for launch sometime in 2020. The model will be built at the Toledo North Assembly Plant, where is FCA is reportedly investing at least $160 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

By 2021, Jeep is expected to release hybrid modifications of the new Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, and Grand Wagoneer, which are all going to be assembled at the Detroit 2 Assembly Plant and Warren Truck Assembly Plant.<\/span><\/p>\n

All in all, FCA’s five-year plan for Jeep includes at least 10 PHEVs and four battery-electric vehicles that will be launched by 2022.
