BMW is launching a new plug-in hybrid version of its well-loved X3 SUV next spring and it’s already starting to turn heads this early.<\/p>\n

The hybrid will feature a 12-kilowatt-hour battery onboard, allowing the X3 PHEV to deliver approximately 20 miles of pure electric range while also providing instant torque to supplement the engine’s power.<\/p>\n

Given the specifications, however, interested buyers would have to come prepared as the company is offering the plug-in hybrid version for an additional $4,600 to the total costs, as confirmed by a recently report published.<\/p>\n

BMW’s X3 xDrive30e will be powered by a 2.0-liter, turbocharged I4 engine alongside the 12-kWh battery, making a combined 292 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Per BMW’s order guides, the new X3 plug-in hybrid version will be offered at a starting price of $49,545, inclusive of the mandatory destination charge. It will officially carry the badge XDrive30e and will be positioned between the X3 xDrive30i (priced $44,945) and the X3 M40i (priced $56,895).<\/p>\n

This price tag makes the model a more affordable alternative to the Mercedes-Benz GLC350e and Volvo XC60 T8, which are offered at $51,645 and $55,590, respectively. It will also directly compete with the plug-in version of the Audi Q5 which is expected to be launched soon, as well as the PHEV version of the Lincoln Corsair that will be called the Grand Touring. Both models are rumored to carry price tags within the $45,000 to $50,000 range.<\/p>\n

BMW’s X3 xDrive30e will be powered by a 2.0-liter, turbocharged I4 engine alongside the 12-kWh battery, making a combined 292 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Official fuel economy ratings of the model, meanwhile, are likely going to be released before the SUV goes on sale in a few months.<\/p>\n
