Subaru has issued a recall on 497,922 vehicles to replace front passenger airbag inflators. The same vehicles were also part of a recall involving defective Takata airbag inflators.<\/p>\n

The airbag inflators were recalled in the past for a possible risk of explosion if a propellant degrades after being exposed to high humidity or extreme temperatures, according to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.<\/p>\n

The recent recall affects models such as the Subaru Forester, Subaru Baja. Subaru Impreza, Subaru WRX (including Sti models), Subaru Legacy, Subaru Outback, and Saab 9-2X.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

If the inflators explode, sharp metal fragments could be released to vehicle occupants and cause serious injury or death. Subaru, however, clarified there have been no incidents of crashes and deaths related to the problem that involves its vehicles.<\/p>\n

The recent recall affects models such as the Subaru Forester, Subaru Baja. Subaru Impreza, Subaru WRX (including Sti models), Subaru Legacy, Subaru Outback, and Saab 9-2X.<\/p>\n

The automaker has started notifying customers of affected vehicles, while General Motors has begun contacting owners of affected Saab vehicles.<\/p>\n

To fix the problem, dealers will replace the passenger airbag inflators at no cost to customers.<\/p>\n
